1. @prat noodle indeed but with the miss putts this week he Could’ve lose easily. I’m glad he won, back to back Easter champions. Hope he wins PGA

  1. I don’t get why players don’t take an unplayable lie when faced with crazy situations. Isn’t it one stroke and you can go back on line or two club lengths? You could exit the bunker or drop in the bunker.

    1. If you take relief outside the bunker, it is two stroke penalty. Rule 19.3b:

      (1) You may play a ball from the spot of your previous stroke (if this spot was out of the bunker, this option gets you out of the bunker; but if your last stroke was from in the bunker, you must stay in the bunker) (see Rule 19.2a). (2) You may take back-on-the-line relief in the bunker (see Rule 19.2b). (3) You may drop in the bunker within two club-lengths of where your ball lies but not nearer to the hole (see Rule 19.2c). (4) Your fourth relief option comes with two penalty strokes – you may get out of the bunker using the back-on-the-line relief option (see Rule 19.3b).

    2. And to expand on what Chris said, you wouldn’t want to take the one stroke and be forced to drop it in the bunker because you risk a plugged lie which would defeat the purpose of taking the stroke penalty in a sense

    3. @Mark C I’m pretty sure that would be a penalty improving the conditions of the course. There are several rules like that like for example you can’t break a tree branch that interferes with your swing.

    4. @Christopher Nguyen Good to know. It costs 2 strokes to exit a bunker. But anywhere else though the green is just 1 shot. Or you can drop in the bunker for 1 shot. Depending on the sand that might a good choice.

  2. Unlucky lie, yes. But another missed putt inside 2 feet. Nobody can win a tournament missing gimmes like this. He does this at least once a tournament, if not 2–3 times. Its embarrassing.

    1. @Joey Numsen I forgot that we arent allowed to critique someone that’s better than us at something. I like Spieth. I want to see him do better.

    1. Look at the number of players that were either tied or within 1 shot of him who had 5 holes left.…and none advanced except Cantlay to tie him.

    2. But he’s always been that way. Kinda like Rory. I don’t think those guys are really pushing and pulling putts a lot. It’s gotta be alignment and reading/pace. I hate when announcers just declare “he pushed it”. Really? These guys have rock solid strokes.

    3. @Yorkazuna yeah well he blew like 3 tournaments last year based on his short putts. The dude was kind of handed this one on a silver platter. Still go spieth!!!

    1. @Jim Bo agreed. Jordan lead the whole thing. i was waiting for the ruling that lead to a bogey. gah. dare i say clickbait from the PGA Tour. 👎👎

  3. I’m baffled as to why he didn’t try to hit towards the green from that bunker position. Worst case is it ends up back in the bunker where he should be able to hit a normal sand shot (which he’s pretty good at). What am I missing?

    1. I was thinking the same thing. I think he could have gotten it on the fringe, but even if he didn’t it’s most likely in the center of the bunker.

  4. Jordan’s ball striking is perhaps the best it’s been since the period around Chamber’s Bay. Drove the ball around the tight Harbour Town course extremely well. Now, when his putter returns to force.….….

  5. unlucky break in the bunker, but the ruling (aka free drop that doesn’t apply at the local course) had nothing to do with the bogey, but actually gave him the chance to make par.
wish these guys would just get on with it. He worked out what was needed in 30 seconds, then took another 2 minutes over thinking it.

  6. Why is he allowed to take 2 club lengths from his nearest point of relief when he drops from the immovable obstruction? Shouldn’t it have only been 1 club length?

  7. From my angle .. Looked like he could have just took a wedge (or sand wedge) and hit a chop (semi-normal) sand shot (w/ no follow through) right at the pin.. I think that might have worked out better than what he did.. Of course, I am saying this at home watching on my TV..

  8. Poor decision from a pro n it is a simple n easy shot tbh if that was Phil.Im sure Phil is laughing with his head shaking😂🤦‍♀️

  9. He ended up about as good as he could’ve expected in three. But that second shot could’ve shanked or flew or gone anywhere. Wouldn’t it have been less risky to take the unplayable into the middle of the bunker and try to get up and down from there? Especially with the new drop-from-knee-height rule, there would have been pretty much no chance of it plugging.

  10. I’m confused. Could jordan not have just aimed at the pin and took a whack at it? Worst thing that could happen it would fall back into the bunker and still have a chance at par. At least he gave it a chance to hit the green in regulation. The play to the right side was honestly a bit too safe for jordan. Idk, i dont have the full situation but from what i’ve seen going for it was possible.
