140 thought on “PGA Tour nimmt FedExCup-Playoff-Änderungen vor, um LIV Golf-Spieler zu entfernen | Golf heute | Golfkanal”

    1. I agree. The PGA tour just keeps playing defense and it doesn’t look good. Monahan needs to resign. If he had just done nothing this would have blown over as a non event after a couple of seasons. But he’s doing more to give LIV recognition than Norman could have dreamed of.

    2. I’ve un-followed anything related to the PGA Tour and will not support them until they end this monopolistic stance. At the moment, I am getting my golf news from this page as well as any independent news source.

  1. Been a fan for a long time. Fear of losing the monopoly because of LIV is clear. You’re shooting yourselves in the foot, in my opinion, and the greed smells bad. Rethink before it’s too late.

  2. This should no longer be called the Golf Channel because it doesn’t cover all professional golf (LIV Tour). I will stop watching the “Golf Channel” moving forward. Can’t speak for all, but I just want to watch professional golfers do what they do and the LIV events and their broadcast are more entertaining than listening to Brandel and Rich Lerner.

    1. Me too. And Fleherty went over to do the commentating on Liv so it’s better than listening to the old hacks on the golf channel anyway!!!!!! 👍

    2. @Barton Percival Yep, Fleherty will give some comic relief and some great commentary. I think there will be some sort of show with Fleherty between events doing things like behind the scenes and highlights.

    3. @Golf Nut That’s good to hear. I really only watched the golf channel because Fleherty had good shows there. Once they stopped featuring him I stopped watching. Brandle Chamblee was an average golfer at best, and I hated listening to his rants and takes!!!!!!

    1. NBC owns both ESPN and the Golf Channel. The Golf Channel bills itself as “The Official Channel of the PGA Tour” so, essentially, all its commentators have a copy of the PGA Tour hymnal and, thus, are singing the same hymn all the time: “PGA Tour Good, LIV Golf Evil.” The only exception was a month or 2 ago when I heard Stephen A. Smith said a few favorable words about the LIV but I’, sure he’s been counseled on the error of his ways.

  3. This is the straw that breaks the camels back. Its clear those that havent resigned want their cake and eat it too. If you didnt think this wasnt going to court, now you are. Basically 137 Danny Willett is the bubble boy entering this week with Paul Casey at 135 debuting this Friday in New Jersey.

    1. Why does the PGA have the right to maintain a monopoly on pro golf?
This is such a horrible decision by the PGA to so strongly oppose the LIV tour. It’s going to hurt them long term

    2. @Sean Wallace certain players want their cake and eat it too. they are still getting their bonus money as if they made the playoffs. if anything the pga tour basically made whatever lawsuit could go to court disappear.

    3. @Joseph Boza Why shouldnt they? They are literally contracted professional golfers. If they are good enough to do well in golf tournaments then why the hell shouldnt they get that reward? Lol. They literally earned it. Are you upset at their earning power? Its like you all just want to say “No the golf market/industry is only THIS BIG BECAUSE WE SAY SO, YOU CAN ONLY EARN MONEY FROM US, EVEN THOUGH WE DONT CONSIDER YOU AN EMPLOYEE AND YOU HAVE TO EARN YOUR MONEY EACH TOURNAMENT”. What a joke. Who exactly get hurts if DJ wins on the LIV golf tour then the next week wins on the PGA? WHO GETS HURT?

    1. Could we add China to that? Jay showing what a petty child he is. He keeps one upping himself! Jay needs to go! Integrate with LIV and move on.

  4. This is dumb if a player wants to play on both tours they should be able too. If the players on Liv miss tournaments on the PGA they get less fedex cup points which would allow other players to get more points and would allow different players to get more starts. Then you still take the top 125 for the finals and if the Liv players don’t have enough points after missing tournaments then it’s too bad, but if they are in the top 125 still it just shows that they are a better player getting better results in the few tournaments they would play in.

    1. Problem is PGA tour doesnt want to partner with liv or they would lose all their top players who would instantly go over there and play for the big bucks knowing they can still compete in a few PGA tour events. Result would be less top players playing weekly basis in PGA tour events which equals less views and money loss as an end result. Think about it all players really care about on pga tour is players championship, Ryder Cup and fed ex playoffs. Outside of that the other events kind of just blend in with eachother and casual fan doesnt run to to tv to watch

    1. I’m surprised they haven’t yet. NFL is about to start it’s own streamer. If i were LIV, i’d use YouTube to free to air their main feed for the events, and golf channel like show/s. Then use their own website as the hub to connect fans based on subscription/free model to extra content like multiple feeds/insider content, where you can follow just your player, or team, or combo it. Kinda like a YouTube/Patreon combo like many other forms of content are moving to.

  5. pgat is sooooo dam scared and greedy right now, they have totally pushed me away, since liv started Ive only watched liv, and the only person I wish would make the switch is speith but that aint happening.

    1. Spieth is on the board and getting $1.2 million to do it. So you’re right, he’s not going anywhere. I would like to see Camron Smith make the switch though.

  6. As long as the players meet the PGA tour obligations the PGA should have no say where they play. These players play to earn and are NOT paid by the PGA to play. If they want to control a players movements they should be like every other sports league sign the players to multi year contracts and own the rights to those players. As long as they don’t pay them a direct guaranteed salary and the player’s have to play and win to make their OWN money, well then the PGA should have no say. It’s that simple PGA, sign your top 50 players to guaranteed money contracts or continue to loose your brand and membership as players secure their financial futures elsewhere.. Orrr let them play where they want after they meet the PGA tour annual obligations. It’s really that simple.

    1. They sign an agreement with the pga to not play on competing tours without approval. They’ve violated this rule with their participation in LIV and this is the consequence of their actions.

Their actions also do significant damage to the tour and it’s remaining members so the tour has to take action to protect their membership.

    2. @Tony Pryor A shame the Asian tour and the Australian tour and the European tour didn’t stop players damaging their tours when the PGA promised bigger payouts and lured them to play in the states, now what’s different to what LIV are doing?

  7. Long Live LIV. The PGA tour and its woke agenda are a joke. They ban courses because they bow to anything the democrats want. Now at last great competition from LIV Golf. LIV so far has been a lot of fun to watch I love the team concept as well.

  8. PGA is so dumb for opposing LIV Tour. Just look like a greedy monopoly… and then try to play it off like their primary concern is the integrity and skill level of the game… cute

    1. Yes, they say nothing of China, Abu Dhabi and Saudi Aramco. They think all their viewers are puppets. Many golfers actually are smart enough to do their own research.

    2. @Earn With Hearn that’s looking at it from one perspective. The PGA has a complete monopoly on professional golf. The European, Asian, and Latin America Tours are international affiliates of the PGA.
The PGA is incredibly exclusive towards it’s player fields and the eligibility/requirements of new players to enter PGA tournament fields.
The best thing that could happen for the sport, players, and fans is for the PGA to have competition, and will be forced (as they already have by significantly raising purse amounts for several tournaments) to offer better incentives for players, and a better viewing experience for fans. Competition in the free market will always force innovation and product improvement.

    3. @Sean Wallace competition, free market? Lol. It’s a government controlled $600 billion wealth fund. No business can compete with that. They tried the same with soccer in the UK but the UK government stepped in because they saw what was going on. Free market 😂😂😂😂😂😂

  9. PGA has lost sight of their fan base and future, largely in part because it is ran and ascribes to long outdated traditional fundamentalists belief, like most Western colonialism ideology.

In simpler terms, it’s ran by a bunch of old greedy white dudes who viewed Tiger as their show pony and can’t stand to see things change. Goodbye PGA, long live LIV.

  10. The pga tour will eventually be a support tour for fringe players. They’re making it too easy for LIV. Like anything the pga needs to grow and evolve or wither away.

  11. LIV PLAYERS KNOW OVER TIME WHEN NOT EVER ELEVATE THEMSELVES WHEN TROPICAL TUNES WILL TOUR ALASKA AND EAT WHATEVER AIRPLANES UNDER TOUGH ANIMALS SMELL

  12. This is a who cares story. They can’t participate bcuz King Farquat aka Emperor Monahan won’t allow these players to play it under his rule of law.

  13. When pro football players took a knee, I cancelled the NFL. I haven’t watched a game, including the Super Bowl. Nor have I purchased any merchandise.
Now I cancel the PGA Tour as long as Monahan is running the show. This means I won’t be watching or going to any PGA events nor purchasing any products or services. If the USGA does the same thing as the PGA, I’ll cancel my membership including GHIN. The players that I am a fan of are on the LIV Tour. So don’t need the PGA. Gives me more weekends to play golf of go fishing.
    Bye bye PGA.

    1. Well said, sir. The NFL now seems like a TV soap opera rather than athletic competition. I can’t stand it anymore and refuse to watch any of the constant twaddle that emanates from NFL Network. And, the PGA Tour is making itself look weak, petty, and elitist with all the bile it and its minions at the Golf Channel spew on a daily basis. I was neutral about the LIV until these douche nozzles on the Golf Channel (Brandel Chamblee, Damon Hack, Eamonn Lynch, et al.) started a diatribe of hate against Greg Norman and the LIV. Now, I’m rather hoping that a vigilance committee of players physically remove Jay Monahan from his ivory tower and get a rope and a tall tree and.…well, you get my drift.

  14. So if i met the requirements of playing in 15 tournaments to be in good standing on the pga tour how can they tell me I can’t play anywhere else. How can they ban me if I met my requirement. How come they are not bashing Tiger for taking appearance fee of over 3mil to play in Dubai isn’t that blood money also. Pga is in trouble

  15. Eamon Lynch represents the epitome of a PGA boot licker. They all bitched about the Saudis being bad, which they are, duh. But our feeble minded ( p)Reseident just fist pumped them lol. So I guess that argument lost it’s steam.…so what’s the problem now? Oh they did it for the money? What does the Fed Ex cup give out to the winner? 11 million lollipops? LOL!!! PGA really is not handling this properly. Monohan should be removed…and I bet he will be. Phil is starting to look like the smartest guy in the room again Golf Channel.

  16. There are some players such as Rory McIlroy who participate in the year end championships of the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour Race to Dubai. Did anyone question this. It is only a problem for LIV because they are not part of the club.

    1. Because it’s not competitive golf. You don’t even have to make a cut. Rory doesn’t want the LIV millions. Maybe he didn’t enjoy 9/11, or doesn’t like reporters being killed, or gays thrown off buildings, or maybe he likes competing against the best, even when he comes in second like at the last Major. LIV players don’t even have to play in Majors really; they SAY they want to play all tours, but for less money?? I don’t think so.

    2. No genius,… the DP and PGA tours have an agreement that has been in place for years. The players who broke their member agreements and play on the Bone Saw Tour lose their privileges.

    3. @wreckim Well the rest of the American public have no problem putting cheaper Saudi fuel in their tanks. I guess they have no issue when they benefit from Saudi oil! 🤷‍♂️

    4. @wreckim Why is not competitive? Why does a cut matter? or 72 holes? Who decided this? When? You know the UAE?, the DP in DP world tour, they don’t like reporters or gays either, does that matter? and we could go on with hypocrisies and points.….

  17. LIV golf will help those players staying in the PGA.…more money for those that choose to stay. LIV players will get crazy money from the Arab Prince. All these arguments, and infighting, while making probably huge increases in pay that virtually no other regular working guy will ever see. I don’t feel sorry for any of them, I envy them. Especially those that choose to stay with the PGA…I think they will make out pretty good in the end, plus keep their legacy, pride etc.. LIV golfers will have to face the 9/11 families and their dishonor for the rest of their lives. I’m sure all those millions help in this regard.

  18. great ideology… smh… PGA act like they were open and social to African Americans before tiger.… Hate.… Par for the course 🇺🇸

  19. so we don’t get to see the best players in the world play in the Fedex cup.… the PGA is chicken shit & is about to lose FANS. I know I am watching LIV!!

    1. ‘Why compete when you’re already paid upfront?’

LOOOL why don’t you ask every player on every football team in the game right now 🤡🤣🤣 Paying players big money every week does not suddenly halt competition, Messi and Ronaldo are examples of this.

  20. All the action of Jay Monehan to punish LIV Golf players have been for not. I think Monehan should step down
and make way for another commissioner that has other ways of reacting than just punishment and more punishment
    and division.

  21. Honestly no one cares about the Liv Tour. For most It’s to good place to go to get upfront money when your career is over. Take that Saudi money while you can.

  22. Let’s see, there used to the NFL and the AFL in football, there is the American League and the National League in baseball, there was the American Basketball Association and the National Basketball Association. Why not have a super bowl of playoffs between the leagues? The players are independent contractors and didn’t sign contracts with the PGA. Why does the PGA think they own and can control an individuals life?

  23. PGA Tour is still acting like they own golf or have a copyright/trademark on the sport. Monahan needs to be shown the door

  24. Jay Monahan ‘s recent actions concerning LIV league golf demonstrates outright corruption in his performance. He cannot monopolize golf within the PGA. This strategy will backfire against him to the point he is forced to resign. So long Jay!!

  25. Norman wants to take over golf. The tour knows it, Norman knows it. The only people that don’t are the PGA critics on here who haven’t followed Norman’s bad history with the PGA. The tour is trying to survive, not sure why that’s so hard to understand.

    1. The PGA want to make and keep every last penny of money they can out of the best golfers in the world, its funny how they now all of a sudden can invest an extra 55 million into the tour! 🤔 They have been raking it in for far too long. Competition is good for golf. And the extra 55 million from the PGA just shows that.

  26. The PGA Tour continues to dig it’s own grave 🤣🤣 The sooner they fire Jay Monahan the better, Greg Norman is running circles around him. The PGA need to make nice with LIV or they’ll be left in the dust.

  27. Ugh. It shouldn’t be this ugly. I get that they’re poaching players, but there are so many talented players out there to take their place. It’s like trying to kill your ex girlfriend’s new boyfriend. Not a good look.

  28. Maybe the LIV players can get some of their tournaments televised and we can get back to watching them. In the meantime, I guess we can watch the YouTube live streams.

  29. Jay’s a friggin baby, thats taking his ball and going home. I cant wait until.the litigation starts and the PGA TOUR gets slapped down.

  30. Wasn’t the President in Saudi Arabia just a few weeks ago?…So it’s okay for the President break bread with the Saudis, but golfers are in the wrong? This is an absolute joke!

  31. PGA: Oh you’re going to THREATEN us LIV? Well then, we’ll commit suicide and beat you to it! ha! How do you like THEM apples!!?

  32. Jay Monahan and the Golf Channel are all douchebags…should move their tour to Russia…they have the same rules for their elections!

  33. So much for “Tradition”. PGA Tour changing the rules mid season on people who have earned the right to compete

  34. Interesting as the PGA doubles down on this. LIV invited them to talk but the PGA declined. If the PGA product is so good, they shouldn’t be scared of competition and here was an opportunity to have a more expansive, global offering.

  35. Guess I don’t need to watch the FedEx playoffs or President’s Cup then, as they don’t include the best golfers in the world, they have become much less relevant. Can’t wait until the LIV golf tournaments and finals though…

  36. Now Monahan kicking guys off the list who’ve earned their position?? Lol.…court should be interesting! If Jay’s not careful, he could end up burying the tour if court don’t go his way!!

  37. I’ve watched less PGA tour events,l and less negative media such as this because of how they are handling the LIV establishment.

  38. PGA TOUR KNOW’S that LIV is just a Shallow-Gambler’s Game. No History…No Love…No Honor.
I believe Golf Fans truly Love the GAME…not the money.
I AM happy for the LIV Sell-out’s…get your money & retire.…but don’t expect a warm welcome back to the PGA.
STAND STRONG PGA.…WE’RE STANDING WITH YOU !!!

  39. I will personally take the Honor and Integrity Jack and Tiger displayed. On 9–11 we said (We Will Never Forget), I guess the American players forgot. No excuse whatsoever for Mickelson. A lifelong legacy destroyed for $$$$$

  40. LIV Golf is similar to Nazi Germany hosting the Olympics, a beautiful spectacle with terrible moral values. Human rights are not an importance of the Saudi Arabian govt. it’s obvious that this tournament is a sports wash to take attention off their régime. The golf players and announcers who join LIV should lose all sponsorships and not be allowed to participate in other major golf tournaments. Selling out for quick money should come with a great cost.

  41. The players who have joined LIV still want to cherry pick tournaments on the PGA tour, but not the whole 15 that the rules state you have to play. So surely the PGA players can play some LIV events, but not the whole amount the rules state you have to play. I’m betting LIV would never allow that. If one is fair, then so is the other. But you can bet LIV would NEVER accept players not following their rules by cherry picking THEIR events. LIV is the one causing all the problems. These players are just toys to them, something to play with until they get bored. It truly astonishes me that players will lower themselves so far just for more money. Self esteem not a thing these days ??
