    1. Yes indeed. It seems they don’t care for competition. Especially when you see Dustin Johnson who reportedly recieved 125 million to play on the LIV Tour! That’s more than his career earnings on the PGA Tour.
      A new era has begun.

  1. Bad decision by the Tour to suspend players over LIV involvement. It will definitely bring antitrust lawsuits and those who do will more than likely win, antitrust laws exist for this very situation. Arguing his “money, money, money” angle Monahan doesn’t seem to have much self-awareness that The Tour created a culture of greed and on an almost minute to minute frequency bangs on about the Fed_Ex Cup.

Apparently Monahan can’t handle the pressure and this move is already backfiring.

What NoLayingUP said was very relevant:

“There’s been a lot to make fun of. And there will be more.
But the fact that these guys rolled out of bed and put together a more action packed and cohesive telecast on their first effort is an enormous indictment of the PGA Tour golf and their broadcasters.”

  2. The powers that be have always had the habit of ‘hammering’ the less powerful in politics, business & the business of sports. Players unite.

    1. Would you be good if they rounded up all the PGA players including those who have been suspended and had a vote on whether PGA players should be able to play in LIV events without consequence? Winner take all? You would lose by a wide margin.

  3. As a golfer and consumer of golf events on TV, I am happy a new tour that is promising to create a more exiting format of conducting a golf tournament with golfer I find exiting. I think the PGA tour should attract golf talent with better conditions instead of threatening golfers that don’t submit. More excitement in golf is better for all of golf. Golf is a world sport and not a PGA invention.

    1. @Preston Bacchus a golf tour. Just like players moving from mini tours to Korn Ferry, Challenge Tour, DP world Tour to PGA. Keep moving up for more money. It is a career bro! Did you keep working at McDonald’s for pride?

    2. @T Beck If they want really big money I recommend the LIV tour. If they want to play in Jack’s tour with Tiger, Rory and a host of other stars for the honor of winning against the best competition, they need to pass on the obscene money.

  5. Hilarious. This will be the fall of the PGA. Good riddance. The game is changing. Either adapt or be gone. Lets hope for the pga tour they get shut down. Its a pro golf league. Not the military. Oh and its also a joke

    1. @Preston Bacchus lets also keep in account the 1st black member was let into augusta membership in 1990. So the augusta board isnt at the tip of the spear when it comes to human rights

    2. @Preston Bacchus well not since 1990 when they all of a sudden became humanitarians. Before then, im not sure you cant prove that they didnt. Id go and assume it was part of the club initiation.

  6. The PGA is dying.…. And for good reason, they REFUSE TO EVOLVE! There solution. Suspend all the players the fans actually come to watch??? That’ll show them 🤔?

    1. I actually feel bad for the Saudis because they have been conned by Norman, a famously self absorbed person, into believing that taking on the PGA for ownership of world golf, instead of simply working with it and benefiting from the popularity of world golf and the existing foundation of the PGA, by sponsoring a couple of high profile big money tournaments where all the players would compete, like WGC events. Then there would have been far less controversy and the Saudi brand would not have ended up being dragged through the outback.

  7. Common sense tells me the PGA did not think this through. They are being anti-competitive in a cherished sport. They are alienating fans who follow some of these players, The PGA is not exempt from Congressional oversight and the law since they are acting like a monopoly engaging in restraint of trade whereby independent contractors are suspended from their events. The lawyers will get rich and you can bet the PGA is seeking Congressional protection as a back-up plan. Funny thing is that the PGA even pissed off Trump when they went “woke” and cancelled an event at his course. Not a smart thing to do. LIV will probably solicit Trump to play an event at one of his courses just to stir the pot. The NFL and the NBA tried this and where did it get them?? I don’t have any skin in the game (sorry about the pun), but this may open up more viewers on a world wide basis. How does that harm golf? The PGA is protecting their franchises and media rights and is pissed Greg Norman is cherry picking their players. All this interesting and as a side note, one might find that Saudi money has been backing the Fedex cup for years. Follow the money and you will see what commentators owe their living to the PGA and likely not too objective in their viewpoints. This all boils down to players providing for their family by making more money playing in less events. What is the value of quality time with their family? Every father knows that answer. Have a good day!

  8. Not a legal expert, but can’t the PGA Tour be sued overr this based on anti-trust legal issues ? Seems like the suspended players have a case as the PGA Tour is essentially a monopoly that is ROBBING the players blind.

    1. It will only get better.. look at what happened with the eu tour. The first ones through the gate always get a little bloody. The saudis will pay lawyer fees and get an injunction and drag this out for years allowing these guys to play both. Eventually it will settle Saudis will dump big bucks into the PGA.

  9. A suspension is not a ban. I bet if the Liv Tour doesn’t work out they will welcome all the players back. I could care less I stopped watching PGA Tour events years ago. I only watch the majors and the PGA Tour does not govern any of them. These players can still play in the majors.

  12. PGA Tour is a joke. And so is Golf Channel. Next time they sanctimoniously bring up human rights issues maybe they want to stray into the area of drone strike collateral damage.

  13. Oh, I am sure that in the far future golfers will be bragging about how many LIV events they won. lol. It’s a complete sell out for big bucks. Phil and the others don’t care about their legacy in golf, they just care about the money. That being said, if someone offered me $200 million like they did to Phil, of course I would take it. In Phil’s case he needs the big bucks to cover up his gambling loses. Simple as that.

    1. I agree but these younger kids coming up do not care about golf legacies , they just want to make as much money as possible. I personally think the PGA is in trouble and your going to see more players switch to LIV tour. PGA has been greedy for years and years and can’t compete w/ the money the liv tour has. Will be interesting to see how this all unfolds.

  14. Welcome to the free market pga, should have shared more of the money. These players dream and work on becoming professionals at a young age, I don’t care how much they make, they put their asses on the line and would be stupid not to get a better payday. I personally look forward to watching a lot of the players that left even if they aren’t playing the best in a certain tournament. And now you’re going to ban them for life? Lol, you basically just made them full time LIV players. Not only that but now they’re going to put a lot more energy into helping grow a rival organization. This is the same thing that happens to complacent businesses and what drove me to start my own and do it better. Let’s just say I’m a lot better off now as will the LIV organization.

  15. Amazing the PGA suspends players indefinitely, they’re independent contractors. PGA acting like owners firing employees, it seems to be against their human rights.✌

  16. I have no issues with players wanting change to the way things are done with the PGA. No issue. I DO have a huge issue with players accepting money from a nation that clearly doesn’t respect human rights and has a long history of brutality and aggression. HUGE issue. You can’t say, “Yeah they aren’t a good country but.….” There is NO BUT! Players aren’t Governments and have the very simple and easy choice to bed down with a morally bankrupt nation or not. All these players, in my opinion put money over human rights.

  17. Glad to hear of the suspensions. They became millionaires thanks to the PGA. Don,t let the door hit them in the ass.

  18. This is ridiculous. Jay Monahan is a tool. I hope more players take off for liv. Golf is golf, quit making this about anything else. Maybe make the tour better and quit being so bitter

    1. there will be no OWGR points so all the golfers who are not exempt now will never play the majors. No sanctioning body recognizes 3 round tournaments.

    2. And that makes this less fun to watch? Do you think these players give a crap. I don’t and Im sure they don’t either. I’m a fan of the game. Don’t care how or where it’s played.

  19. Tiger won 40 tournaments on the european tour and is 3rd all time but get’s no recognition for it. PGA tour has become a bit too dominant and needs some competition.

  20. SHAME! SHAME! SHAME! on Americans that sign up to play w/the Saudi-$$$ tournament. What a slap in the face to Americans that died on 9/11/01. 15 of the 19 terrorist that crippled America were Saudi citizens. May “their” balls fall into deep quick sand. Me and mine will NEVER watch blood money tournaments.

  21. The more players that move to LIV, the better Rory’s chances of winning the Masters.…unless the Masters lets everybody play.

  22. This is the beginning of a slow death of the PGA tour. It may take a few years but this is the beginning of the end. The PGA tour showed their card way too early. This PGA Commissioner took the easy road, thinking he can flex his muscles but as we all will eventually find out, a stupid move on their part.

  23. A player should be able to play any tour. However when they got their pga tour card they’re are rules and regulations they needed to abide by. These players that decided to play in LIV did not. Therefore they got suspended. Very simple.

  24. The PGA had to posture up to stop the hemorrhaging of players. Mark my words this will be good for all players, (if they mostly stand together) the saudis will get the best lawyers for the guys that want to play both, they will get an injunction and drag it out for years. Eventually they will settle with the saudis dumping a huge bag on the PGA, then liv will probably eventually ghost out and there will be a couple large tournaments in the UAE, this is all for publicity & tourism.

  25. The average person knows who Tiger, Phil, Greg Norman, Rory, Dustin Johnson, Sergio Garcia are. The average person knows what the Masters and U.S. Open are in golf. All those things are Non-PGA people/events. The average person does not have the slightest clue what the the FedEx Cup is. Yes, Patrick Cantlay (who?), won it last year. Most people have no clue the PGA, USGA, Master’s The Open are all run by different organizations. People want to see the best and most charasmatic players playing each other. That is golf. At the end of the day, the world’s best players have all the power, as they should.

  26. they act like we watch golf to watch the tour, no we watch golf to see our favorite players. The talent exists without the tour but the tour does not exist without the talent.

  27. PGA being a whiny byatch… IMO they get their teeth kicked in when The legal battle hits… more ops for players… in a world where inflation is allowed to rage on we shun those who can beat the system… I think that is heavy BS! Remove the money system if you want morales otherwise shove it!

  28. Really People it’s Simple! If Professional Golfers want to make A Change for the Better in Golf, No Matter What Tour it is. Just Play on the Tour They Want To Play On! If Any tour Bans You, They Show There Hand as The Mob not the Pope, and Prove Beyond Doubt It’s all About the Money!!!

  29. PGA made a mistake proceeding with the suspensions…makes them look WEAK.
Despite my preference for some loyalty, PGA made a stand I look at as pompous and isn’t in alignment with the USGA, or the European Tour…the fall of the PGA just commenced with this move…Tiger better get healthy quick.

  30. If the PGA Tour is the BEST, what’s the problem with a competing LIV Tour?
Let the golfers choose where they want to compete.
BTW, all golfers earned their Tour Card. They’re not employed by the PGA Tour.

  31. hey The Golf Channel, why aren’t you guys covering the LIV tournament? as a media company you should be impartial in this situation and provide golf fans with news and information. i think time to ban The Golf Channel as well
