Rory McIlroys 8 unter 62 und 21. Sieg Runde 4 RBC Kanadisch 2022 2022

1. Their team thing is a desperate attempt to inject some form of competition into the LIV tournament. Didn’t work for me, just exhibition play really. Whatever the faults of PGA and DP World tours, at least it feels like the players are actually competing.

    2. @Nelson Cape totally agree, PGA isn’t perfect but it feels professional and it feels like it actually means something to win. LIV is definitely just exhibition golf from a bunch of guys who already got paid.

    3. @G nope, if you look at anything that tries to reinvent a traditional and historic sport they always flop. Look at Formula E

  1. When Rors is at his best… His tee to green is on a different level ⛳💯

There is still a world no 1 inside of him… somewhere

    1. I think he’s the true number one, he’s been consistently in the top ten for over a decade, not many haven’t lost form at some point, don’t think he’s ever dropped out of the top twenty

    2. @Billy Mills he lost his form when he hit the gym years ago. He was a skinny free swinging machine before bulking up. Plays well enough in normal events but always seems to be chasing the pack when it really matters.

    3. @craigratio not sure I agree.

Are you expecting major wins each year then that’s not gonna happen…who’s won majors every year? He will win more, perhaps not this year but certainly going forward

    4. @craigratio he was out of shape when he started hitting the gym

Played with him loads as juniors, including British boys, he hit the gym much earlier than you think …more like 2012

  2. McIlroy played a great game but a special note of thanks has to go golf club that hosted the RBC Canadian Open because that course was in phenomenal shape.

    1. I’ve played at St George’s multiple times, it is a fairly exclusive private club but I have several friends that are members, I played in 2010 just a few weeks before they hosted the Canadian open and we played from the tips and I thought overall I played very well to get an 83 at a 5 handicap. It is not an easy course by any stretch, in fact it is one of the most difficult I have played, it is far harder than glen abbey (default canadian open course) and we were speculating that the low round that year would be 64 or so and then carl peterson missed a putt for 59. These guys are on another level. I remember many members were saying they didnt think any pros could reach number 15 in 2 because it has a small green that is hard to hold and it is a 570 yard uphill hole that plays more like 640 or so. This year multiple guys made it 2. It is pretty unreal how good these pga tour pros are and they get better every year.

  3. Rory took a jab at Greg Norman in the interview right after the win by saying “Got my 21st win, one more than someone else”.

    1. @marcusdolby1 Yeah but Roy never turned his back on the people who helped make him. That’s what cowards and punks do like norm. He will get his. I better not see him in public I will let him know I feel.

    2. @marcusdolby1 Norman has won a lot more tournaments but many of them were on lesser tours plus you’re also counting some Skins Games and Fred Meyers Challenges, stuff like that. Plus if McIlroy’s contention is that the PGA Tour is far and away the top tour in the world and is where the best players are (which it is) then it’s fair to look at PGA Tour only. FWIW, as far as I can tell Norman had 332 starts on the PGA Tour while McIlroy has had 213, which start to look a little better for ol’ Rory.

  4. Rory wouldn’t even mention Greg Norman by name when they said he passed him with his 21st PGA win. He said someone else!

  5. talk about some give me pin placements for the final round. I mean how many people were flag hunting all day with 37 rounds in the 60’s on the final day…yeah I’d say they were giving birdies away with those pins. I mean Justin Rose shoots 60 with 3 bogies…unheard of. My guess is they’re manufacturing low rounds to boost interest now that they have competition for players and viewers.

    1. lol if you’ve watched any of the LIV it’s atrocious, and to be honest I was hoping it’d be good. I’m a hue golf fan and I think competition is always great, but man, that LIV tourney was boring, horribly produced, and feels really cheesy.

    2. @Jim I’ll agree it wasn’t earth shattering but when is golf coverage “great”? Ryder Cup aside…having Jim Nantz yell in my ear when someone sinks a 10ft putt or hits it to 5ft isn’t exactly great TV either.

    1. And then after he wins the US Open, he says, “I’m happy to be part of the LIV family”
That would be totally in character too

    1. @Jens Sletvold on a extremely tight hard course, that’s not set up to go low like most PGA tour set ups, the course is a par 73 set up as a par 70, they were hitting woods, long irons for their second shots into a par 4

    2. @Brandon Johnston it’s only the first tournament, it’ll grow and get better and better over time just like the PGA did over decades

  6. So Rory doesn’t care about LIV but brings it up any chance he gets 😂😂😂😂 what an absolute clown. Says best competition like 10 guys in the top 20 are ranked higher than 150th in the worrl

  7. That’s Rory ! That’s you my favorite player the number 1 !! My razón why I’ll start play golf , I’ll would like to shake hands and take of pictures with you that’s my Dream!!

  8. Rory like JT is all class, but certainly knows how to deliver a thinly veiled barb or 2. Hope he goes on to win more majors

    1. Check out Henrik Stenson’s final round at The Open in 2016. Between he and Phil Mickelson, that’s possibly the best golf I’ve seen.

  9. Rory’s swing looks way better. His swing is getting more controlled like just Thomas. I’m excited to see what’s to come!

    1. I was just about to say that exact same thing. It seems like he’s slowed down his downswing a bit and sped up his follow through. Looks buttery smooth.

  10. Always liked Rory but my admiration for him has gone way up over the past couple months. A great golfer, and more importantly a class act.

    1. He,s a sheep. A follower. A yes man. He,s the sort of man that likes monopolization. My opinion of him has gone WAY down. Like his ryder cup comments. The bloke doesn,t think before speaking.

    1. Are you kidding? The amount of shots that hit the pin or rolled just past off iron shots that were shown real time was unmatched.

    2. @Blake Thornsbrough only 8 guys on LIV shot under par. The coverage was excellent, I’ll give them that. But the caliber of golf and skill on display simply cannot match the current pga tour. Watching LIV is like the “who’s who” of “who’s that?”

    3. @Gear Guru completely different course on a completely different continent. There wasn’t 2 foot tall hay grass on the RBC course to contend with. I have enjoyed watching golf for years but the LIV format is more enjoyable and entertaining than watching a couple of golfers with a few cut aways. All of the coverage is over in 18 holes.

    4. @UC8x8qW37y2K3foExt9l3uEg any of the LIV players would have shot 10 under? Two guys shot over plus 20 in 3 rounds. I agreed that the coverage and watching experience was excellent, something the PGA should definitely look at. But to me, I watch golf to see exceptional talent and prowess on display. Otherwise, I can get a firsthand experience at the local public course with guys shooting 20 over. To each his own though

  11. Awesome victory for Rory! I’ve become an even bigger fan since he is not supporting the LIV tour. His comment at the press conference was awesome… “One More Than Norman!” That was classic… Cool, classic, and I loved it…

    1. Yes, lets shame the golfers that joined Liv even though no one shames the golf courses in American that Liv is having their tournaments at and lets not forget how America is friends with Saudi Arabia, yet no one is talking smack about us concerning Saudi ARabia. But the Golfers. F them. PGA isn’t a monopoly at all. Poor PGA

    1. Google is a magical tool… Greg Norman has won 20 PGA tournaments and Rory now has 21. He wasn’t talking about overall professional tournaments. Thanks though bud.

  12. Used to have great respect for Rory. Unfortunately made a smart arse comment about our Mr Norman.Respect out the window now.

  13. When Rory’s hot he’s hot! I’m so disappointed that DeChambeau went to LIV gold… anyone else disappointed in these players who left?

  14. This is golf at it’s finest! Watch 40 guys week after week compete for Saudi money if you want to but this is the PGA. No comparisons.

  15. Prediction: Rory joins the LIV Tour next year and says he’s excited to grow the game with this new format. And no it has nothing to do with the $200 million they gave him to jump ship.

  16. His weaknesses are short putts and his wedge game. His wedge game was spectacular today, missed 2 short putts but holed quite a few too. As well as he drives it, if he keeps that wedge game going like he did today, look out. He’ll have enough looks that he can afford a few short misses.

  17. Great golf was played by a lot of guys this weekend Rory was just the better golfer this weekend. Great Canadian Open !!

  18. This was amazing golf coverage… so proud to be supporting PGA at this time and forever. Those players that left for liv golf are despicable.

  19. Rory has the right attitude The PGA and college golf are officially at war .and under heavy attack by Norman and Phil. Besides Rory and JT and a few others, many more need to step to the plate –Defend what’ is yours..

  20. Wow.. I wasn’t able to watch today, but after yesterday’s round, I knew he was finishing solo 3+ or tied 3+. Everything was either perfect irons to within 3 feet, or an outrageous putt that average golfers would brag about for a year lol. Insane focus and great sportsmanship

  21. One week to soon, should of tool yhe week off, better yet, went to London and made some real money. I rather watch the LPGA.

  22. So wonderful. He’s the best when he’s on it. Great stuff. I hope he continues in this vein. This reminds me of his iron play from 2010/11.

  23. I love these tournaments where they all shoot low 60’s super fun to watch! it’s so dumb i can’t even resist to complain about it. Golf was famously to define the best players in the world, not make it so easy that any average guy can shoot 60. looking forward to the us open, but seriously i’m watching liv over the average tour event 100% of the time. I“m done investing my time in these turkey shoots. it’s just short iron to 10 ft, putt, commercial repeat for 6 hours.

  24. I started watching golf in 2011. The 2nd major was Rory’s 8 shot win at the US Open. That week he hit so many wedges that settled to 3 feet. I remember thinking that dude is unstoppable. Then, the next 11 years I never saw his wedges look like that again – or even Tour average. We all know the story. Then today happened and he must have gained 4 shots on the field JUST on SG:approach. Glorious. If he found this 2011 wedge game then bye bye field. Look how well JT played today and there was nothing he could do.

  25. Looking at the scores as the video plays and it looked like JT was lighting it up too. Great tournament but im not liking the RAW vs Nitro vibe in golf right now. Theres room for 2 great brands of golf at this point and the whole situation is getting a little petty on both ends.

  26. Vintage stuff Rory an absolute fantastic display of skill and “bottle”.….. and the timing of such a performance was superb while the LIV part timing bounty hunters were sitting looking into their “greasy tills” you JT, TF were serving up seriously exciting golf. Good on you lads keep up the good work.

  27. I don’t care.
If the PGA chooses to play hardball with players who simple want options. Then I too have options and will not watch the PGA.

  28. Rory in full flight, great win, great defence but ultimately great to see him play 4 good rounds consecutively.
Also, how good was Justin Rose’s final round shooting 60?

  29. What’s truly insane is that Justin Rose was 3 very close bogeys away from shooting a 57. 🔥🔥🔥

    Great round by Rory.

  30. Rory McIlroy is a bad man! His ball placement is immaculate. You can’t make up this level of pure talent and feel for the game! Congrats on a well earned victory! Number 21 is gonna be one to remember for Rory McIlroy!

  31. The drive on 10!. 326 yrds carry😳.…thats my distance off the tee, when my shank ricochets off a tree, bounces off a path then rolls about 100yrds down another path! 😭

  32. Rory is just my alltime favorite golfer. Tiger may be the GOAT, but somehow I like Rory’s play and charakter. I am so pleased that he is back and in fire. Go Rory, you’ve got the US and British Opens coming for you.

  33. I just got espn plus last week but couldn’t find any of the final groups playing yesterday, does espn not televise the leader groups on the final day or something?

  34. Just watched the 2011 US Open of Rorys win and this highlights looked damn similar to a lot of shots from back then.

  35. I guess with the amount he’s been running his mouth, he kind of needed to make the PGA tour entertaining, and that round he certainly did. No one comes close to him when he is in that form 🔥

  36. just mcilroy magic hands down the most exciting player when tiger aint around in golf period when he is dialled in .unreal show guys thanks .

  37. Great win by Rory but it was close. Thomas and Finau had their chances. Great round also by Justin Rose. He almost set a new course record.

  38. So where are all the comments about Rory being over rated now.……Golf is hard, but when this man puts it all together IMO is unbeatable..

  39. FFS pga tour show us the ceremony live when a player wins. Every othe fking sport shows us the throphy celebration but you end the live broadcast right after the last put.

  40. I’ve always been a huge fan of Rory – until now.

Watching an interview with him he came across as unbelievably childish, and petty, when he felt the need to tell the press that he had won more titles on tour than Greg Norman, and how much it meant to him. I honestly thought he was bigger than that.
It also didn’t help his case, in my mind, when on another interview he waxed lyrical, and now advertises, Whoop.
    What’s next, Rory – Scientology.

  41. Rory’s short irons and wedges won him the tournament. It’s what’s been letting him down for too long now and he absolutely nailed them today, when he needed it most. Love the irony of Rory and JT having been so vocal on their unwavering loyalty to the PGA Tour this week, and then they both duelled it out to the end in a quality tournament. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it LIV Golf 👊🏻. Talk about putting your mouth where your money is.
